Welcome to the Okinawa Association of America (OAA)'s official website! Our website is currently under construction, so here are the best ways to keep up to date with the OAA:

  • Visit our Facebook: If you have a Facebook profile, feel free to "like" us, post comments, and share all things Okinawan! :)

  • Sign up for our "Jigami-gwa" eNewsletter: All you need to do is email your name to and you'll receive OAA updates via email!

  • Subscribe to our YouTube channel: We're trying to post more videos that document our latest events as well as the history of the OAA. Watch and learn!

  • Visit our news/blog and newsletter pages: For those who don't want to bother with social networks, we still do things the "old-fashioned" way!

  • Become a member (see below): Our organization was built on and survives because of its members. Ichi nu ichimadin (From generation to generation)!

About 800 families and individuals belong to the OAA. Most of our members have some familial connection to Okinawa. However, anyone interested in Okinawa can join the OAA. The membership fee is $20 per year for individuals and $30 per year for family membership. The OAA is supported by membership fees and by volunteer work.

To become a member, please fill out and return the membership application along with a check (made payable to OKINAWA ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, INC.) to:
