Membership Committee

Currently about 700 families and individuals belong to the Okinawa Association of America (OAA). Most of our members have some familial connection to Okinawa. However, anyone interested in Okinawa can join the OAA. The membership fee is $20 per year per individual and $30 per year for family membership. Member benefits include:

  • Eligibility to apply for the OAA's Academic Scholarships for Current High School Graduates (Ages 17 - 25)
  • Eligibility to apply for the Okinawa Prefectural Government (OPG) Jr. Study Tour (Ages 13 - 18)
  • Access to various classes and activities such as: Computer Class, Uchinaagushi (Okinawan Language) Class, Karaoke Club, and much more!
  • The Haisai OAA News (quarterly newsletter) mailed to you
  • First notice of upcoming activities and events such as the annual Shinenkai (New Years Party), annual OAA Picnic, and much more!

The OAA is supported entirely by membership fees, by volunteer work, donations, and the annual OAA Bazaar - the OAA's only fundraiser.
